Former minister of culture and vice president of the Norwegian Labour party, Hadia Tajik, was maybe not the most prominent person in the room during Oslo Media Meeting late august, when she came to discuss media business development.
Among the speakers at the first conference in Oslo Media House was a person who has done a lot to change our lives. Sophie Wilson was a part of a group who, we might say, by accident created the first ARM processor in the 80s. Today, in a much smaller version, the processor is in almost every single device we use or carry around. This year 5 billion smart phones, computers, apple TVs and so on are sold with the processor.
Also on stage was Allan Beaufour from the New York startup scene, the only person in the room with an impressive CV on Crunchbase, and strong media leaders like Naja Nielsen from Danish Broadcasting and Liv-Jorunn Håker Ottesen from Sunnmørsposten.
The audience was about as impressive as the speakers, in there to honour those who dare to try, dare to fail and show the ability to move forward from idea. Because execution is everything.
And, to quote Allan Beaufour; Failure is not an option, it’s a must.
