Substituting Oslo Fashion Week, a major event coming up is Norwegian Fashion Hub, 10–12 February. February is shaping up to be another extremely busy and exciting month on the Oslo fashion/tech/music scene.
Three days of activities, workshops and seminars focusing on the business of fashion, Norwegian Fashion Hubis strongly committed to involving the technology, business and investment communities in the creative mix. This fresh take on improved channels of communication and cooperation is reflected during the Fashion Hub’s Needlework & Technology Conference on Tuesday 11 February, dubbed “a conference where fashion and design meets business and technology”.
“Coming from Norway, you have to be extremely good to make it in the fashion industry,” says Gisle M. Mardal, project manager at Norwegian Fashion Hub and managing director at Norwegian Fashion Institute. “It is not enough just to produce your line of design, you also have to have a substance to it. A fashion industry event like this needs to be more than just champagne and a celebration of ourselves. Norwegian Fashion Hub wants to support and encourage creative results combined with a solid business platform. We have to build that from within the industry locally, and go out to get inspiration and advice from the best environments abroad.”
SpaceMakers
Meanwhile, Oslo Business Region, together with Oslo Fashion Hub, 657 and property developers Aspelin Ramm and Anton B. Nilsen, is curating an event called SpaceMakers, a seminar about coworking spaces and urban development which takes place in the afternoon of Monday 10 February. Coworking environments and city property developers will gather at 657 Oslo, one of the capital’s most vibrant creative hubs, to share experiences and discuss ideas, as well as hearing inspiring talks by international experts in the field.
International Success
Oslo fashion is certainly making a strong impact on the world stage right now: designer Fam Irvoll has just been announced as a new regular clothing designer for the international high-street fashion emporium Top Shop. Irvoll is a great example of a successful and hard-working designer from Oslo, and we expect to discover many new talents during Oslo Fashion Hub and in the near future
