Air transport, Airport Express train and commerce in connection with the airport generated about 4.5 billion in revenue last year.
This is why Gardermoen airport is the key funding sources for several smaller airports in Norway. Thanks to a profit of 1 billion, before tax, Gardermoen makes sure that smaller places like Ålesund, Hasvik, Berlevåg, Røst, Fagernes, Røros still has a functioning airport. This is due to the fact that Oslo Airport Gardermoen is owned by the state owned company Avinor, who also owns 46 airports all over the country. The millions generated at Gardermoen are therefore neatly spread around the country, to 36 small airports that all runs on a deficit.
