This trend effects the event companies in Oslo. From record revenues in 2007, the event company Tiger Event felt the financial crisis and that larger firms are more cautious when anniversaries and other events is to be celebrated. The majority of their customers are satisfied with a professional speaker and a good dinner. This trend can be recognized in the result figures. From a turnover of nearly nine million kroner in 2007, Tiger Event made 7 million in 2009, that leaves a profit before tax of about minus 776,000 kroner.
-It's not that many customers that really turns up a celebration anymore, and if they do, it is for marketing purposes also, says project manager in Tiger Event, Thomas Lein.
Module Event Conference AS, have also felt the trend, but over the last six months they are seeing a greater willingness to spend more money on celebrations.
– There have been many large companies that have cut down after the financial crises. Although it is not necessarily due to the expence, it has become a bit politically incorrect to throw large celebrations, but lately we` ve seen an increasing willingness to spend money on social occasions says general manager of Module Event Conference AS Tor Rustad.
-Although we have not reached the old levels, we notice that the crisis is over, Rustad says.
Module Even Conference had a turnover of over 18 million in both 2007 and 2008. In 2009, however, the figures show that turnover has sunk to a little over 10 million, with a profit before tax of 115,000 kroner, compared to 879 000 kroner in 2007.
